Marcus Cantu is a 2026 SS/2B with a 5-10 178 lb. frame from Friendswood, TX who attends Lutheran South Academy. Medium athletic build with some compact present strength. 6.54 in the sixty. Primary middle infielder on defense, ranges to his right well, throws best on the run and makes accurate throws, does a nice job staying low to the ground and getting his glove down, great game play going back on a pop up, shined in the games at second base. Left handed hitter, sets up in a straight stance with a short stride into contact, has a lifting swing with middle of the field contact, handles the barrel well, might benefit from more of a line drive approach. Plays hard and with energy. Excellent student with a verbal commitment to Texas.
