Colt Mercer is a 2023 SS/RHP, C with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Colleyville, TX who attends Covenant Christian Academy. Medium frame with compact build; ran 60 yard dash in 8.20 seconds. Hits from closed stance, hands and hips separate well in load, line drive swing plane through the zone, stationary lower half, showed barrel skills out front, willing to work the opposite way. Worked out behind the plate, shows solid receiving skills, footwork fundamentals are solid, longer arm stroke through the back, clocked up to 64 mph on throws. Threw 67 mph across the infield, hands work well out front, showed some lateral agility. Also pitched, worked from the stretch, compact arm stroke to high slot, fastball worked 62-63 mph, showed curveball with 12/6 shape and good depth in the low-50's. Very good student.
