Lauden Brooks is a 2021 SS/2B, OF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Cincinnati, OH who attends Archbishop Mc Nicholas. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, additional room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary shortstop, moves well on feet and fields the ball out front, light and quick footwork, showed balance in live action with nice play on the charge, quick release with ability to throw accurately from multiple slot, arm strength will continue to develop. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide and slightly open base with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; subtle shift through lower half moving into swing. Simple and repeatable mechanics, does a nice job of generating extension and lives in the middle of the field with barreled contact. Can implement additional lower half, stays short to the ball and shows fluidity to swing, projects nicely with added strength, hands work well in swing. Good student. Verbal commitment to Kentucky.
