Grant Taylor is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-4 185 lb. frame from Murrieta, CA who attends Murrieta Valley. Large frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Ran a 7.34 sixty-yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side delivery. Stays tall at gathers and creates slight coil over back leg. Utilized lower half well while working to the plate with drop and drive actions. Loose arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Produced good arm speed through extension with a fastball that flashed solid downhill angle in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Tends to drop elbow slot with a slider offering that showed 9/4 shape with softer spin and occasional tilt. Consistently filled the strike zone with develop feel to each edge of the plate. Also worked out defensively from first base showing clean footwork while centering the baseball. Clean glove actions while funnel and work through exchange well. Gets baseball out quickly and released from a three-quarters arm slot producing on line carry to the bag, topped at 80 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a balanced, open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Created some linear shift into baseball and launched to contact on a direct path. Barrel came through the zone on a naturally leveraged plane flashed occasional bat speed to finish. Primarily worked to the middle of the field but flashed the hand speed to turn barrel to contact and work to the pull gap as well. Excellent student. Named to the 2017 West Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
