Daniel Dorman is a 2023 1B/RHP/OF with a 6-2 215 lb. frame from Lynnfield, MA who attends Lynnfield. Large, broad shouldered frame with present physical strength proportioned throughout. Ran a a7.53 60-yard dash. Listed as a primary first baseman, graded out best on the mound this look; side step moving into a compact leg lift up to belt, gets tall on backside and works to an extended/higher three-quarters slot with arm speed coming through the back side. Worked on top of the fastball, topped out at 80 mph, mostly true in life but live around the zone and able to generate plane to the bottom of the zone, flashed ride up in the zone. Maintained velocity well, mixed a short curveball with the makings of depth at 67 mph and developed a consistent feel for it towards end of outing. Fields ball closer to body at first base, longer arm action, young footwork with deliberate tempo; longer strides to the ball in the outfield, rotational release and tends to get under the ball at release. Right-handed hitter, begins with a straight stance at the plate and a tight hand set to body, hands remain close throughout swing. Short swing path through the zone and remains direct to the ball, found the barrel in live action with line drive carry to all parts of the field. Can unlock additional power with added extension to swing, best contact when working on a linear plane. Very good student.
