Hunter Johnson is a 2022 1B/RHP, 3B with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Chesapeake, VA who attends Western Branch. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, projects with additional room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.83 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, shows nice athleticism to actions coming off the bag, fields the ball cleanly out front and repeats footwork through the ball, will continue to refine overall actions, gets taller through release, ball comes out of hand clean with nice carry and accuracy. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Upper body dominant swing, can incorporate additional lower half moving into contact. Keeps hands inside the ball and gets extended out front, utilizes a middle of the field approach. Incorporates strength and works on a linear plane with contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field. Excellent student.
