Alec (AJ) Romero is a 2021 C/IF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Bellevue, WA who attends Newport HS. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary catcher with a side set stance while receiving the baseball. Gains some ground while working out of crouched with loose footwork. Extended glove circle and released from a three-quarters slot. Throws generated some on line carry to the bag topping at 69 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.06. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance and compact hand set. Utilized an inside hand path to baseball and flashed some feel for the barrel on a line drive plane through extension. Primarily looked to work the ball to the middle of the field and flashed the ability to drive the gaps when on time and squared. Good student as well.
