Beau Johnson is a 2019 3B/RHP, 1B, IF, OF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Dana Point, CA who attends Dana Hills. Large frame with longer limbs and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary third baseman with smooth paced footwork while traveling to and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and worked through exchange with developing fluidity. Released from a three-quarters slot producing accurate carry to the bag at 73 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the outfield utilizing deliberate lower half action while closing to and working through the baseball. Funnels out front and maintained momentum towards bag. Released from a three-quarters slot creating some on line carry to the bag at 74 miles per hour. Left handed hitter with an open stance and leg lift trigger. Loose hand path to baseball with a naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Primarily looked to turn the barrel to contact and work to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Showed good strength at contact with carry to the pull side gap when on time and squared. Also pitched utilizing a rock step to medium leg lift delivery. Loose arm circle and released from a high three-quarters slot. Flashed some arm quickness through the zone with a fastball that topped at 82 miles per hour. Curveball had 12/6 shape with loose spin and occasional depth in the low 60's. Also flashed a slider offering that generating tighter spin with short tilt to glove side in the low 70's. Consistently looked to work ahead of hitters with fastball offering showing the ability to work to all quadrants of the zone.
