David Hammond is a 2020 LHP/OF with a 6-1 145 lb. frame from Philadelphia, PA who attends Science Leadership Academy. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, lean and projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.52 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, side step moving into delivery, quick gather on backside with leg lift up to belt, longer online stride and finishes towards the plate well. Full arm action through the back working to an extended three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 72 mph, shows life to the pitch when down in the zone. Maintains arm speed well on both his slider and changeup, changeup shows nice potential at 62 mph. Similar long arm action from the outfield, fields the ball out front with deliberate actions, tends to stride open prior to release, accuracy on throws to intended bag. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Weight begins on back side, occasionally hits around the ball with a long path through the zone. Upper body dominant swing, shows comfort working to the middle and pull side parts of the field with a short finish through point of contact, can implement additional lower half into weight shift.
