Ryan Manternach is a 2018 IF/RHP with a 6-1 215 lb. frame from Monticello, IA who attends Monticello. Large frame with a solid, strong build. Primary infielder with aggressive footwork while closing to and surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball from a slightly deeper position and works through transition with clean, smooth paced exchanges. Primarily released from a three-quarters slot but flashed the ability to change arm angle while throwing on the run, topped at 75 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, balanced stance and large leg lift trigger. Shifts into contact with aggressive linear actions. Loose, extended hand path to baseball with a slightly lifted plane through extension. Swung with intent while employing a gap to gap approach. Ball jumped off the barrel generating hard, loud carry to the gaps when squared. Also pitched showing a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side with slightly coil over back leg. Tends to land on a slightly open front side. Long arm circle at take back and released from a low three-quarters to near side arm slot. Fastball flashed some arm side run in the low to mid 70's, topped at 76 miles per hour. Slider showed loose spin with short tilt to glove side in the mid 60's. Maintained arm speed with a changeup that had good sink with fade to arm side in the upper 60's. Has the present feel for off speed pitched to pitch backwards and double up when needed. Very good student as well.
