Austin Strickland is a 2020 RHP/OF with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Winchester, OH who attends Moeller. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary right handed pitcher who worked exclusively from the stretch. Simple leg lift and stayed balanced on back side. Lands in line with the plate and carries momentum to target well. Smooth arm circle at take back and released from a high three-quarters slot. Fastball produced good downhill plane with occasional heavy run in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 miles per hour. Showed good command for fastball and consistently located to each edge of the plate. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tighter spin and good depth in the mid 60's. Effectively changed speeds throughout each inning of works and consistently kept hitter off balance. Worked out defensively from the outfielder showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling and working through exchange. Released from a three-quarters slot creating accurate carry to the bag at 83 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance. Loose path to baseball with an uphill barrel plane. Looks to connect with baseball and produce lift while utilizing a gap to gap approach. Flashed some strength at contact the generated good carry when on time and squared. Very good student as well.
