Jakob Smizik is a 2023 SS/C with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from Boca, FL who attends Spanish River Community. Recorded a 7.11 second 60 yard dash time. Primary shortstop with easy transitions, gets the ball to his throwing hand quickly. Hands work well, stiff actions with accurate throws. Secondary catcher with a high set up, reaches for the ball and gains ground towards second base. Longer transfer with segmented actions, will improve as the actions smooth out. Left-handed hitter with balanced base and open stance, strides closed. Some present strength in the hands, leads with the shoulder and swings across his body. Short and stiff swing with a contact oriented approach, shows some barrel accuracy. Great student.
