Gavin Taylor is a 2023 C/1B with a 6-2 195 lb. frame from Tarzana, CA who attends Birmingham. Large frame with strong, physical build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.16 seconds. Hits from even-based stance with high hands and back elbow, bars hands down and deep into load, strength stands out, can drive the ball when on time, stiffness to stroke on grooved path, has ability to leave the yard. Primary catcher, standing into reception, quick out of crouch, receives fine, solid arm strength with consistent one hop accuracy, clocked up to 78 mph on throws. Also took infield reps, clocked up to 87 mph from shortstop across the diamond. Excellent student, committed to BYU.
