Matthew Sicoli is a 2021 OF/RHP/1B with a 6-4 185 lb. frame from Washington, DC who attends Landon HS. Matthew is a soundly built, mature player who has a skill set rooted in solid fundamental ability. He is also a recognized, elite scholar. He ran an impressive 7.12 60 yard dash. A primary OF, Matthew is a skilled and accomplished defender. His easy strides to position are made better by his quick first step. He plays through the fielding action with gathering momentum and his glove work is pure and consistent.. He transitions well and his 84 mph throws are firm, hold their plane, and are routinely accurate. Matthew is also an accomplished first baseman. The same skills he displays in the outfield transfer well to the dirt. He reads the ball well. He plays with a certain advanced rhythm and timing and his glove is sure. He gets his 84 mph throws away quickly and they are always on target. Matthew also took a turn on the hill where his raw arm strength is evident. He uses a full wind-up and a mid-level leg lift. He works the bottom of the zone well and his 80-84 mph fastball is consistently around the plate. His 11/5 breaking 64 mph curveball is shaped more like a traditional slider and shows routine sweeping action at the plate. Matthew certainly projects to the next level. His skills are evident and his poise and disposition, coupled with his advanced ability, make him a certain prospect for college ball.
