Tyler Avery is a 2022 RHP/1B with a 6-2 175 lb. frame from Las Vegas, NV who attends Bishop Gorman HS. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and long limbs, plenty of room to develop physically moving forward. Ran a 7.89 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, short side step moving into delivery with a medium leg lift at top of balance pout; full and whippy arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Some drop and drive off back side but does a nice job to remain on line. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, occasionally mistimed through the back side, shows cut action when working to glove side and has present arm speed. Curveball shows 11-5 shape with some depth up to 68 mph, comfort and confidence in doubling up on the pitch. Picks the ball well at first base, short steps coming off the bag, fields the ball out front with a wide base and low funnel into body, works on top of throws well. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Full swing path through the zone and creates separation, extension out front at point of contact. Long stride into contact, best contact when working on a linear plane, swings with intent and shows occasional leverage. Good student.
