Matthew Shumate is a 2023 RHP/3B, OF with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Lake Mary, FL who attends Lake Mary HS. Strong build with broad shoulders and strength throughout the lower half. Primary right-handed pitcher who only pitched at the event. Big side step into a leg lift past the belt. Remains tall on the backside with a slight hip turn at the top of the delivery. Effort at release with a short and compact arm action. Hides the ball well with a three-quarters arm slot. Gets on top of the fastball and shows an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with tight shape. Shorter bite to the curveball and manipulates it well.. Great student.
