Nicholas Vega is a 2021 OF/RHP with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Bronx, NY who attends Fordham Preparatory. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present physical strength proportioned to frame, additional room to fill. Ran a 7.20 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, moves well to the ball and works through it, fields the ball out front, full arm action and works to a higher release point, shows present arm strength and carry on throws to intended bag, ball comes out well. Also pitched, good presence on the mound, does a nice job of filling up the strike zone and mixed well on the mound; gets on top of fastball with an over-the-top slot and topped out at 82 mph. Lived down with fastball and mixed a tight spinning curveball with 12-6 shape in any count, potential for swing-and-miss offering. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even and slightly open stance with a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Does a nice job of staying short to the ball and remains short through point of contact; shows power off the barrel when squared and projects for more with additional extension out front. Strength to hands, shows present pop to pull side with strength to hands, occasionally mistimed moving into contact. Named to Sunshines Northeast Top Prospect List. Very good student.
