2007 Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase
Kyle Ayers is a 2007 RHP/1B with a 6'4'', 225 lb. frame from Oswego IL, who attends Oswego HS. He has a plus strong build with very good looseness for his strength and size. Ayers throws from a medium drop and drive delivery and his arm works very smoothly and the ball comes out with little effort. Ayers fastball was very steady at 88-90 mph and was very heavy down in the strike zone. His curveball had very good velocity at 77 mph and had a big, relatively early break to it and he used it well early in counts to get ahead of hitters. He also mixed in a couple of change ups but this pitch is still a work in progress. Ayers was a strike machine who pounded the lower part of the strike zone aggressively. It would be interesting to see him pitch with a taller delivery, his stuff might take another step forward and it's already pretty nasty. Ayers is starting to get some real attention and could be a big-time sleeper prospect from the Midwest this spring. He has signed with Parkland JC.
