2007 Rising Juniors National Showcase
Evan Brock is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 5'11'', 165 lb. frame from Chino Hills, CA who attends Ayala HS. He had one of the better arms at the event and may have had the top breaking ball. Brock was selected as a Top Prospect at this event and looks to have a bright future at the college level, perhaps beyond someday. He is not big, wtih a medium frame and lean body type. His future velocity gains will hinge in large part to his physical development. Brock has a long, quick, loose arm that works well from a high 3/4 slot. He uses an over the head wind-up and does a nice job of working over the rubber though he could stand to stay on-line to the plate better. Brock's fastball touched up to 87 and sat 84-86 mph. He showed feel with the heater to both sides of the plate. His curveball has a chance to be a great pitch for him in college. It has 11/5 shape with plus bite and good depth. It is a swing and miss type of curveball. Better yet is that he throws it with feel and command. Brock's mound presence is good and he is competitive. As a position player he showed off a good outfield arm and some promise as a hitter, with a quick bat and a little pop.
