Saxton Sorenson is a 2021 MIF/RHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Parker, CO who attends Lutheran. Large physical build. Primary infielder, works through the ball with aggressiveness, glove works to both sides well. Still developing accuracy from multiple slots and while on the move across the diamond. Takes large strides into either hole, fields deep. On the bump, has a shorter arm action from a high three-quarters to over the top slot. Mid to high leg lift raises slowly then jerks at the apex of his lift before firing down the hill. 81-82 mph fastball possesses some downward angle thanks to the high slot and out in front window. Breaking ball is a true 12-to-6 curveball that is very good with plus actions and promises to translate at the next level. Also throws a 71 mph slider that compliments the curveball well. Mixes in a straight change occasionally but not to the extent of the two breaking balls. A true four pitch mix with promising actions overall. At the plate, uses a tall upright stance with a slight bat wag that quiets down into his load. Hanging low leg lift trigger stacks his weight onto his backside. Extension through the zone gets slightly cut off but hands work well to the ball and swing stays compact throughout. Infield listed as primary position but shows excellent projectables on the mound. Excellent student in the classroom.
