Joshua Wheatfall is a 2028 SS/RHP/2B with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Kerrville, TX who attends Tivy. Lean, immensely projectable frame with long levers and plenty of room to add strength. Recorded a 7.16 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with a developing defensive skill set and tons of athleticism. Displayed plenty of lateral range, athleticism to his actions and showcased plenty of arm strength across the diamond during drills. Fielded cleanly out in-front, worked through the baseball with good pace and recorded arm strength up to 86 mph across. Will continue to improve with refinements to his footwork and overall fielding process. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with elongated rocker step into a higher leg lift and athletic movements down the slope. Fastball worked in the upper-70s to low-80s for the majority of his his outing and topped out at 82 mph from a loose three-quarters arm slot. Low-effort delivery with attack mentality early in the count, mixed in more traditional shaped curveball with depth and bite to it. Near limitless projection and velocity upside with continued to strength gains. Right-handed hits that hits from a wider, slightly open stance with a lower, pushed hand set and lower back elbow. Incorporates negative toe-tap trigger and rotational lower half movements to get to launch. Flatter swing path with middle-of-the field approach, creates leverage out in-front and impacts the baseball from gap-to-gap when on-time and in-sync. Swing translates well into game action and will continue to improve with minor adjustments and additional strength. Hyper-athletic, immensely projectable prospect with huge upside on both sides of the baseball. Legitimate two-way skill set.
