Dominic McCaffrey is a 2021 C/RHP with a 5-11 210 lb. frame from Spotswood, NJ who attends Saint John Vainney. Stocky build with present strength. Ran a 7.86 second sixty-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Employs a wide upright stance with confident receiving actions. Displayed developing footwork while working from behind the plate. Displayed developing transfers into throws with accurate carry to the bases topping out at 67 mph and posting a 2.25 second pop time. Also worked out defensively in the infield. Displayed low out front funnels with deliberate footwork while working to and through the baseball. Flashed clean transfers into throws with developing arm strength and accurate carry topping out at 72 mph to first base. Right handed hitter. Employs a slightly open upright stance with a small leg lift trigger. Flashed a naturally leveraged barrel plane to and through the zone. Displayed a rotational approach with good strength at contact creating some loud contact to and through the gaps in the outfield. Also pitched at the event. Employs a small side step to a belt high leg lift staying slightly flexed at gather going to drop and drive actions down the mound. Lands online with the plate and stays online with the plate through finish. Flashed a compact arm action with good arm speed from a three-quarter slot. Features a fastball with late run up to 78 mph complemented with a 11/5 curveball with good depth creating some swing and miss up to 65 mph. Great student.
