2021 WWBA Workout Showcase (July 14)
Jack Wickum is a 2023 C/RHP, 3B with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Virginia Beach, VA who attends Cape Henry Collegiate School. Recorded a 7.63 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium frame with plenty of room and time to add strength and mature. Primary catcher that receives from a slightly side-saddled stance with relatively soft hands and an inline mid-line transfer. Gains ground towards his target out of a higher set position, while working into a short arm action to throw. Recorded arm strength up to 75 mph from behind the plate during drills. Displayed accurate throws to the bags with plenty of room to add more arm strength as he matures. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and small leg lift trigger. Simple, quiet approach with linear swing path and good feel for the barrel. Middle-of-the field approach with consistent line drive impact and ability to carry the gaps. Fundamentally sound defensive skill set with some upside remaining, flashed offensive prowess and projection in his swing. Will continue to improve with minor refinements of his tools and additional physical maturity. Excellent Student.
