Griffith Hay is a 2023 2B/SS with a 5-5 115 lb. frame from Bellaire, TX who attends Bellaire. Young, narrow shouldered build with a lean and projectable frame, has room to grow and develop physically moving forward. Ran a 7.88 60-yard dash. Primary second baseman, takes short steps moving towards the ball, fields it out front with a wide base and glove plays at the ball, shows a quick transfer and release out of the glove, accuracy on throws, arm strength will continue to develop. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and lower back elbow in the box. Loads hands back at start of swing, quick knee twist trigger for timing. Best when working on a linear path through the zone, works the middle and opposite parts of the field and creates extension out front. Can shorten load and incorporate additional lower half shift, contact oriented approach and tracks the ball well at the plate. Very good student.
