Max Valdez is a 2021 C/1B with a 6-3 175 lb. frame from Franktown, CO who attends Regis Jesuit. Large frame with a slender and lengthy build. Room to fill out moving forward. Ran a 7.27 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Sets up in a side straddle stance to start. Receives out front and works into a compact arm circle. Gains short ground out of the stance. Creates accurate carry to the bag at 77 miles per hour and popping a 1.90 in workouts. Righthanded hitter with an even stance and short leg lift trigger for timing. Swings the barrel aggressively generating hand speed into contact. Gets underneath with a slightly elevated bat plane. Stays compact with the hands on an inside path. Works to the opposite field mostly with occasional middle of the field contact. Good student as well.
