Nathan Jones is a 2007 switch-hitting outfielder (also plays some middle infield) from Hazelwood West HS, residing in Florrisant, MO. JOnes has a wiry and athletic build on his 6'0" 165 lb. frame. Expect that he will keep getting stronger and at some point be able to gain some weight and mass. He is a good athlete and if he does get more size, all that he does should be enhance greatly, except perhaps his speed. As a hitter he hits from a square stance and showed himself to be a quality contact hitter, capable of manning a spot at the top of a line-up. Jones has good hitting hands and a pretty quick bat, meaning that he can let the ball travel and work each at-bat, possibly wearing down a pitcher. There was some fluidity evident in his swing and for the most part he did a nice job of keeping his hands inside the ball, while letting it get deep. Jones has good bat control and hit the ball well to all fields. On the bases he showed the ability to steal a bag, ability to steal bases. In the outfield he is an above average defensive player, with an average arm that is best in center or left field. Not a burner, but he is a good runner, with a laser timed 6.73 60 and a 4.55 home/1st time. Jones' best days are ahead of him. He is a projectable athlete with solid hitting fundamentals and an overall quality game. He would appear to fit the college game best at this time, but all it may take to blossom into a pro prospect is some physical maturation and strength.
