Omar Boyd is a 2021 OF/RHP/MIF with a 5-10 157 lb. frame from Southfield, MI who attends Detroit Edison Public School Academy. Smaller build with some developing strength. Very good runner with a quick first step, has run a 6.75 sixty at a previous PG showcase and plays with plus speed on the field. Right handed hitter, hits from a straight stance with a big back tap load, has a short and well timed swing that makes consistent contact, put the ball on the ground consistently and used his speed to disrupt the defense, has the hand twitch to open up his swing some and learn to drive the ball into the gaps. Primary outfielder who profiles best at second base, does use his speed well in the outfield, can improve his release speed both in the outfield and in the infield. Also pitched, simple delivery mechanics with a 3/4's arm slot, fastball worked in the mid-70's with a soft curveball for strikes. Good student.
