2024 WWBA Workout Showcase (July 5)
Zaden Ranson is a 2026 C/1B, 3B with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from South Charleston, WV who attends Charleston Catholic High School. Large frame with dense muscular strength, good athleticism and the type of body that stands out in his class. Ran the 60 yard dash in a solid 7.17 seconds for a power oriented prospect. Primary position catcher, with emerging overall mechanics behind the dish. Tools present, gaining ground inline with the target on the transfer. Quick shuffle, with clean midline transfer to longer arm path that produced feeds up to 80 mph and a pop-time best 2.00 seconds. Room to refine the process and tap into fast twitch. Reps at 1B as well, working the glove out front with two hands and using deliberate foot work around the bag. Comfortable here with the ability to change slots and made good feeds up to 82 mph across the diamond. RHH with a slightly open stance, wide base and high handset to start. Quick leg lift trigger and some length in the front arm working to impact. Leverage to his swing, gets on plane and flashed pull side strength. Timing was a bit off at times but when synched up launched a HR in BP round. Plenty of strength and still room to refine the process. Elite performer in the classroom as well.
