Cory Apker is a 2020 1B/RHP/3B with a 6-5 175 lb. frame from Eugene, OR who attends Sheldon. Tall, long frame with wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Worked out defensively from the infield showing clean footwork while rounding the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through exchange well. Flashed some range while working to the baseball to each side. Loose arm circle and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced some carry across the infield with developing accuracy, topped at 75 mph. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and leg lift trigger. Worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball with a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Looks to throw hands and barrel head out front to contact while utilized a gap to gap approach. Flashed occasional jump with carry off the barrel to the gaps when on time and squared. Also pitched showing a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and lands in line with front side. Released from an extended three-quarters arm slot creating downhill plane through the zone in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 79 mph. Curveball showed 12/6 shape with solid spin and later depth in the upper 60's.
