Angel Cruz is a 2024 SS/RHP, 2B, OF with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Loiza, PR who attends Colegio San Ignacio De Loyola. Medium frame with a bigger lower half. Athletic build. Ran a 6.72 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop who used his longer levers to his advantage, getting to the ball smoothly and being able to make difficult plays. Throws across were at 85 mph and helped get outs. He gets rid of the ball quickly with athletic and fluid actions. He threw 88 mph from the outfield, working directly to it, fielding it off to the side with one-handed, and then working through the throws to keep his momentum going. Had some strength behind it with carry showing on the throws. In games he made a really nice leaping play at shortstop to rob the opposition of a base hit, showing off his athleticism. A right-handed hitter who uses a wider base with high-set hands and a high back elbow. The feet start slightly open. Showed the ability to make adjustments in the box, getting the bat extended out in front to drive the ball pull-side. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher where he held 83-84 mph on the fastball. He showed two distinct breaking balls. The curveball had 11-5 shape to it in the low-70s with a slider that had more lateral movement and was thrown harder, more in the mid-70s. He had a changeup in the mix as well. He was athletic on the mound, rocking into a delivery that featured a leg lift up to the belt. Punched out one hitter over his inning of work, needed just eight pitches to do so. Great student.
