2021 California Workout Camp Session 5
Justin Heslip is a 2022 2B/RHP, SS, OF with a 6-1 155 lb. frame from Menifee, CA who attends Heritage. He ran a 7.69 second sixty. A primary second baseman with a longer lena build. On the infield he showed decent range and athleticism taking proper angles in each direction, the hands works well out front and funnel in as he shuffles into his throws with the ability to be accurate from multiple angles. In the outfield he fields the ball deep waiting back on it and carrying little momentum into his throws while still showing average arm strength and carry. On the mound he throws from the first base side of the rubber with a small side step and slight tuck at the top of the leg lift, he uses the lower half well getting down the mound with a high three-quarters slot, the fastball sat 74-77 mph and was in the zone a good bit, the curveball showed 11-5 shape with throwing ti glove side for strikes, his changeup showed as his best secondary with goo dame speed and movement around the zone. Right-handed hitter, starts narrow with and open base, he showed some barrel feel with a level bat path using the middle of the field at his best. Excellent student.
