LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Leon is a 5-6 sophomore catcher from Miami with a mature, strong frame for his age. Leon has some very polished skills right now, especially on defense. He threw 75 mph in catching drills and had a low pop time of 1.83, which is exceptional for a sophomore and one of the best times of the showcase. It wasn’t a fluke time, either, as Leon was 1.87 and 1.88 on two other throws. He’s very quick and compact in his actions behind the plate, which carries over to his blocking and receiving skills as well. He will throw runners out in games and even picked a guy off second during the showcase. Leon has a polished approach at the plate, with a short, hard swing and some power to right centerfield. He showed the ability to stay back on the off speed pitches and hit with his hands and hit line drives to all fields. Leon is a good student and enthusiastic ball player with a very good future.
