Brian Ward is a 2028 1B/RHP/3B with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from McDonough, GA who attends Union Grove. Physical, well-proportioned frame with room to fill out and add strength. Recorded a 7.93 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary first baseman with some agility around the bag, a clean funnel out in-front and delivered accurate throws up to 69 mph across the diamond. Secondary third baseman with deliberate footwork throughout the fielding process. Shows some range up the middle and displayed clean backhands. Bends slightly at the waist to field, produced accurate throws up to 73 mph during drills. Showed some projection on the mound by running his fastball up to 79 mph with subtle sinking life to it. Showed developing feel for spin with breaking ball that morphed between both a slider and curveball at-times, had some gradual depth but slowed down a bit on the pitch. Will continue to improve with mechanical adjustments and additional velocity. Right-handed hitter that hits from a wider, open base with a tight hand set, high back elbow and hover trigger. Whole field approach with rotational lower half and slightly elongated swing path. Slight drift causes him to block his front side at-times, impacts the baseball with authority when on-time with good extension and some power potential. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength.
