Tyler Smith is a 2023 LHP/OF with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Pittsburgh, PA who attends Mt Lebanon HS. Broad-shouldered projectable frame with some present strength already. Primary left-handed pitcher who only pitched during the event. Small side step into a leg lift above the belt with good rhythm to the operation. Deceptive delivery with moving parts and a tough look to opposing hitters. Three-quarters arm slot with a whippy, loose arm stroke. Fastball worked in the 86-88 mph range (2000-2200 spin) with late life and the ability to get the pitch to both halves of the plate. Pitches with angle and makes for a very uncomfortable at-bat. Showed a firm changeup in the low-80s that he can throw for strikes. Sweeping breaking ball is a weapon with two-plane snap. Really tunnels the pitch well out of the hand and can dive it in on the back foot of right-handed hitters; projects as a legitimate out pitch. Tremendous student. Verbal commitment to Auburn.
