Chris Tanabe is a 5'8" Class of 2006 outfielder from Palm Beach Gardens, FL, with some very good tools. He’s deceptively strong for his size and has plenty of quick twitch muscles. Tanabe is a strong runner with big league average or better speed and very good first step quickness. He gets out of the box quickly, is a threat to steal a base at any time, and showed above well average range in centerfield on defense. In fact, Tanabe has a chance to be a real standout on defense at the next level as his arm strength is also very good, in addition to his speed and instincts. Tanabe was a little long in batting practice, perhaps trying too hard to show some power, but shortened up in the games and did very well, collecting four hits and causing havoc on the bases. As long as he plays to his strengths, Tanabe looks like he can be a very good all around player a very high level. Chris is a very good student.
