Matthew Stoltenberg is a 2024 SS/RHP with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Hiawatha, IA who attends John F Kennedy. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Runs well, posted a 6.84 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, plays with energy in actions and moves well to the ball, gathers nicely behind it and shows a cleaner funnel with sound footwork, smoothness to transfer into a long arm action, over-the-top slot with present strength and carry across the diamond. Also pitched, small side step into delivery with knee to chest, lands on line with good extension down the mound; long and loose arm action working to a three-quarters release. Fastball topped out at 81 mph and showed some running life to the arm side while working around the plate, clean and repeatable delivery. Slider showed 10-4 shape up to 67 mph while also mixing a changeup with fading life up to 75 mph. Worked all three pitches around the zone. Right-handed hitter, begins with a square stance and a slightly open stance with a high hand set; shifts weight through lower half well and creates nice separation out front. Looks to turn on the ball and impact to pull side, occasionally gets to front side early, shows present bat speed through the zone, tends to open front side early in swing. Very good student. Named to the Midwest Top Prospect Games Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
