2025 PG Sunshine East Showcase (National Showcases Qualifier)
Zachary Tavarez is a 2027 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-10 152 lb. frame from Miami Lakes, FL who attends Archbishop McCarthy. Slender young athletic build with plenty of room and time to get stronger. 7.03 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop with two-way potential on the mound. Showcases lateral quickness with bounce on the dirt, utilizing a pair of soft hands to receive and transition effectively. Tavarez possesses a very strong arm with accuracy, reaching 92 mph across the infield. At the plate, he starts with a high handset and back elbow, transitioning into a knee lift trigger before firing through an ultra-quick barrel with all fields impact. Tavarez drove line drives from gap to gap, recording exit velocities up to 91 mph. On the mound, Tavarez works from a side-step delivery and higher leg lift, using a deceptive arm action and high three-quarters slot. The fastball jumps out of the hand with life, finishing with heavy arm-side run and the ability to throw it for strikes on both sides of the dish. He also mixed in a horizontal slider in the high-70s and a low-80s change-up that flashed fade. Outstanding student. Named to the PG Sunshine East Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
