2020 Lone Star Showcase
Ryan Slade is a 2023 RHP/1B with a 6-5 240 lb. frame from Wimberley, TX who attends Wimberley. Extra big and strong build, especially for a sophomore. Works from the stretch, pretty clean and fluid arm action on the mound, over the top arm slot coming through, pulls down hard with his front side out front and can get better drive to the plate with his big and strong lower half. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, plenty more there as he gets older, gets very good arm side life at times and doesn't throw many straight. Slurve type breaking ball has good power and tight spin, will flash sharp biting action with good downer break, developing some feel for the breaking ball. Threw strikes and had a dominant performance. Right handed hitter, has a busy load that creates some inconsistency in his timing and swing path, shows good strength when he squares up and will run into some balls and drive them hard. 7.82 runner in the sixty. Very good student. Named to the Lone Star Showcase Top Prospect List.
