Blake Curry is a 2023 RHP/1B, 3B, OF with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Buckeye, AZ who attends Verrado. Features a strong, athletic frame. Ran a 7.68 60-yard. Showcased the ability to make the routine play throughout defensive drills. Caught the ball fairly well with sound glove actions. Continuing to develop footwork would help improve range in both directions. Short arm action produces strong throws. Utilizes an open stance with an upright set up. Hands are high at the head with an extreme barrel tilt toward the pitcher. Uses a moderate leg kick timing mechanism with a lot of hand movement to overcome barrel tilt. Direct bat path showed flashes of bat speed. Produced some pullside power when on time. Uses a slight drop and drive delivery on the mound. A short swing hides the ball well before coming out of a high 3/4 slot. The fastball topped at 76 mph with solid arm side run. Showed the ability to throw it to both sides of the plate. It paired with a slurvy breaking ball that sat in the low-60’s. Threw it for strikes often. Solid pitching foundation overall with a chance to be really effective when a velocity bump comes. Excellent student, as well.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
