Julien McRae is a 2027 2B/RHP/SS with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Gastonia, NC who attends Gaston Day School. Medium, compact build with more strength to project for. 7.75 runner in the sixty. Primary second baseman, works through the baseball with proper technique and carries some momentum through it. Tends to bend at the waist when fielding the ball. Showed a developing feel for adjusting his glove and arm at the position. Recorded arm strength up to 74 mph. Secondary pitcher, utilizes a simple operation with a medium leg lift. Quickly separates into a very compact arm path before releasing the ball from a low ¾ slot. Displayed rotational mechanics with a tendency to fall towards first base. Fastball showed some arm-side run and lived around the zone. Mixed in a softer curveball at 61 mph. Left-handed batter, starts in an even stance with a high hand set-up. Utilizes an inward hanging trigger for timing before working into a level bat path. Tends to get his front foot down late and take an inside-out approach. Produced softer contact to the middle of the field when timed up. Posted an exit velocity of 73 mph. Great student.
