KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Hannah Gralund is a 5'6, class of 2022 1B/RHP, UT from Marion, IA who attends Linn-Mar HS. Hannah is a talented, mature, athletic player who is a true, high level multi-position utility player. She can play just about anywhere on the field and play at an elite level. She is cerebral, poised, and polished. Her game is unquestionably college ready. A college program would be very fortunate to have Hannah. Her positive body language and obvious upbeat disposition, along with her high level approach to play, make her a top prospect. She has the look of a team leader. She ran a 3.33 20-yard dash with a 1.10 5-yard split. A primary first baseman, Hannah is a certain projectable collegiate player at her number one position. She is really good around the bag. Her feet work. She reads the ball off the bat well and positions confidently. Her glove plays at a high level. Very smooth with the leather. Solid transition to an strong arm that produces 52-mph throws that are firm and always accurate. Hannah could play first base at the next level....today. She also took a round in the outfield. She understands positioning. She has impressive first step quickness and plays through the fielding action with controlled momentum. She transitions in rhythm and her 54-mph throws hold their plane and are consistently accurate. Yes, she can play college OF, too. Finally, Hannah showed her versatility with a solid showing in the circle. She is a command and control specialist who has a great idea of how to pitch. Her "softball smarts" are truly evident when she is pitching. She has long levers and plays taller than her listed height. Her mechanical operation is smooth and repeatable. She has plus spin on all her pitches and she stays off the heart of the plate. Her fastball looks effortless out of her hand and is thrown to both edges. FB has a hint of jump at the plate. Her drop is a plus out pitch with heavy biting down action late. Might be her best pitch. Her change-up is deceptive and is thrown with FB arm action. A little bit of subtle rise with her CH. Her rise ball is a short, quick, late jumper that she works to both rivers like a veteran. Lastly, Hannah throws what she calls an "off-speed" pitch which is a hybrid offering. It combines her plus drop ball with curveball cut. Has a lot of spin and noticeable late action. Her pitch-ability is off the charts. Again...college ready. At the plate, Hannah's advanced game is completed. She has a wider and slightly open stance at the ready. Very relaxed start. Small coil to load. Quick trigger. Middle-of-the-field approach. She is a contact-first hitter and she impacts the ball. Her hands works really well and she can drive the ball, with force, to all parts of the field. Outstanding promise as a hitter. Hannah is college ready on a number of different levels. Her fundamental foundation is off the charts. Tough to find any holes in her impressive ability. Big promise! High ceiling! Certain college level player!
