Crew Elrod is a 2029 C/RHP/1B with a 6-3 220 lb. frame from Chattanooga, TN who attends IMG Academy. Primary catcher with a tall and strongly built frame. Began with one knee down behind the dish and gains ground well with good direction. Clean and consistent transfer and delivered consistently accurate throws to the right side of the bag, recording a pop time of 2.03 in workouts. Left-handed hitter and starts from a wide base. Showed some nice adjustability with the swing and keeps the barrel in the zone well. Employed a pull side approach during the round and has strength to the hands. Compact swing and flashed good pop. Also pitched and begins delivery with a leg lift to core level. Uses a shorter arm action through the back and releases from a high-3/4 slot. Fastball topped at 77 mph and dropped in a curveball that featured big depth.
