AJ Laurencell is a 2026 SS/RHP, 3B, MIF with a 5-11 160 lb. frame from Frankfort, IL, who attends Lincoln Way East. A higher-set waist in a taller frame with a lean build. Ran a 7.94 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop who had some athletic footwork showing. He had a shorter release and lower slot on his throws, with his feet moving well on the infield. He had some natural actions on a fundamental backhand. Recorded outs and threw 73 mph across the diamond during his round of reps. A right-handed hitter with a wider base, flexed knees, and a slightly open setup. The weight is shifted back with the back elbow up. He had good balance to the stroke with some rotation through the swing. He was able to lift the ball at times during his round of BP swings. Produced some line drives. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher, working from the wind-up with a sidestep into a coiled leg lift up just above the belt, with some torque. Some plunge in the backside. Controlled actions overall with the delivery. He hides the ball well and has a shorter arm action with a higher three-quarters arm action. Mid- to upper-70s fastball showing some arm-side run. He mixed his pitches often, with a heavy dose of offspeed. The breaking ball was in the mid-60s with some downer shape to it, getting occasional chases below the zone and whiffs in the lower third. Flashed the changeup in the upper-60s with tumble to it. Offspeed heavy attack and a fastball for strikes. Great student.
