KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Marisa January is a 5'5, class of 2024 IF from Spring Hill, KS who attends Spring Hill HS. Marisa is a fundamentally sound, up and coming player, who shows great energy and effort levels that should play great dividends as she moves through her career. She ran a 3.52 20-yard dash with a 1.22 5-yard split. A primary infielder, Marisa is measured and sure with her actions. She positions well and her glove play is certain. She transitions well and her 52-mph throws are firm and accurate. With continued experience, Marisa's defensive game, which is solid right now, will get even better. At the plate, this RHH has a open and fairly balanced stance at the ready. She incorporates a smaller stride after a quiet load. Her trigger is quick and she has an all-fields mentality, getting her barrel to contact regularly. Solid, contact first, approach that works well for her. Power should come with some physical maturity. Marisa has the right idea. Her game is based on a sound fundamental approach, which at this stage in her career, is impressive. Should she continue on this path and work in the weight room to add more agility and strength, her game has a real chance to take off. Her effort and energy are awesome and she obviously has a great passion for the game. Like her projectability and future!
