2022 13U/14U Sunshine Northeast Showcase
Joshua Martinez is a 2026 SS/RHP, 2B with a 5-11 144 lb. frame from Utica, NY who attends Thomas R Proctor. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a high waist, long limbs with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.93 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, moves well on feet and shows balance to footwork, clean funnel in actions going up the middle, accurate throws with some effort at release, gets aggressive but repeats actions. Also pitched, quick operation on the mound with staggered start, full windup with a shorter arm action working to a three-quarters release point. Comfort to pitch backwards and worked around the zone, pitched to contact, fastball topped out at 75 mph and mixed a curveball with bigger shape up to 61 mph with ability to land for strikes. Switch-hitter, nice components to swing from both sides of the ball. Slightly open stance from the right side, shows smoothness to barrel through the zone, creates a linear path through the zone with clean bat to ball skills, occasionally gets to front side early with shift. Narrow and slightly open stance from the left side, more present bat speed and shows the comfort to turn on baseball, smooth and easy stroke overall with tools to project upon. Good student. Named to 13u/14u Sunshine Northeast Top Prospect List.
