KC Fall Softball Scouting Combine Afternoon Session
Ali Russler is a 2023 OF/1B with a 5-7 145 lb. frame from New Hampton, IA who attends New Hampton. Ali has the look of an advanced, college ready player. She is noticeably athletic and strong and very skilled at more than one position. Lastly, and most impressively, she can really swing the bat. She ran a 3.32 20-yard dash with a 1.15 5-yard split. A primary outfielder, Ali is quick and agile and very light on her feet. She is quick to position and plays through the fielding action with plus controlled momentum. She transitions well and her 56-mph throws are firm and find their mark with elite carry and accuracy. Star power as an outfielder. Ali also took a round at first base. Her athleticism shows on the dirt, too. Her advanced footwork allows her to position quickly. Her soft hands and smooth glove are solid. She transitions, again, quickly and her 55-mph throws find their mark always. Plus, projectable, college level ability as a defender. At the plate, Ali really shows off her college readiness. Although she may NEVER be asked to bunt now, or in the future, Ali can handle the short game. She is just a pure hitter. She has a balanced base and really gets into her legs. She generates plus torque and her strength is obvious. Quick trigger. Direct to contact. Easy and consistent feel for the barrel. She impacts the ball with force and shows big power. Highly impressive, upper division, college ready bat! Ali is ready for the next step. She, unquestionably, will spend her last two years of HS and travel ball refining her already elite game. Outstanding!
