2021 California Workout Camp Session 4
Matthew Sanders is a 2023 OF/RHP, 1B, 3B with a 6-4 175 lb. frame from Sherman Oaks, CA who attends Notre Dame. He ran a 7.29 second sixty. A primary outfielder with a long projectable frame with plenty of room to fill moving forward. In the outfield he takes a big gather into his throws and showed decent carry on his throws coming out on a line with good extension on his pull down. On the infield he showed some feel for the glove with developing footwork, shuffles into his throws with a quicker arm and the ability to throw from multiple angles. On the mound he starts with a small side step and leg lift above the belt, as he comes down the mound he sits into the back side as the arm works long through the back to a three-quarters arm slot, the fastball comes out of the hand well and gets a little more jump with the slower pace of the delivery , his lower slot fits the slider well getting on the side of it creating some horizontal bite, the changeup showed good arm speed with fading action to the arm side. Right-handed hitter, starts with a narrow base and really tall stance with a lower hand set, he worked best middle to pull whence was able to get out front matching plane and staying through the baseball, will find more consistent barrels with better timing. Very good student. Named to the 2021 California Workout Camp Session 4 Top Prospect List.
