2025 PG National South Showcase
Tanner Klentz is a 2029 C/RHP/3B with a 6-3 190 lb. frame from Richmond, TX who attends The Bennett School. Extra big athletic build for his age with huge physical projection remaining. Right handed hitter, sets up in an upright stance, upper body rotational swing with a low hand set, showed an accurate barrel in the games, can get to his strength better with swing adjustments and more lower half involvement. 7.89 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, sets up one knee down, stands up to throw, effort thrower with some raw arm strength, still developing his fundamentals and consistency but has the base tools to continue to develop. Also worked out in the infield, showed his arm strength well there. Took a turn on the mound and graded out higher there than as a position player. Works from the stretch with a big leg raise and full arm takeaway to a 3/4's arm slot, gets into his lower half well, easy mechanics that he repeated well. Fastball topped out at 84 mph with plenty more velocity there in the future. Threw both a curveball and slider, slider was the better present pitch but showed feel for both and located them well. Can see him having a real power arsenal moving forward. Named to the PG National South Showcase Top Prospect List.
