Canaan McDonald is a 2027 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-3 115 lb. frame from Smiths Station, AL who attends Smiths Station. Smaller young build. 8.60 runner in the sixty. Primary middle infielder on defense, comes to the ball aggressively and has good footwork and balance on the move, glove can be late getting down at times, keeps his momentum well through his throws and has a quick release, can play on the run, makes accurate throws with a clean arm action, has the tools and actions to keep improving in the middle infield as he gets stronger. Right handed hitter, hits from an open stance with a big move into contact, was consistent in getting the barrel out front, pretty short and direct swing, high contact approach. Also pitched, has a compact windup with a full arm swing in back coming to a 3/4's release slot. Worked quickly and threw strikes with a mid-60's fastball, solid curveball and a change up.
