2020 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
Aaron Nieves is a 2023 RHP/OF with a 5-8 118 lb. frame from Newark, NJ who attends Newark Tech. Recorded a 7.90 second sixty-yard dash time. Small, slender frame with plenty of time to fill out and add strength. Primary right-handed pitcher with a developing feel for pitching, short arm stroke and deception in his release point. Simple delivery with belt high leg lift into balance and shorter stride down the slope to foot strike. Fastball worked in the low-to-mid 70s, topping out at 76 miles per hour with some life through the zone. Secondary offerings are still in the developmental stages with slider flashing varying degrees of shape and tilt, while changeup shows some occasional fade to it. Secondary outfielder with a developing defensive skill set, deliberate actions into and through the fielding process and short arm action to throw. Recorded throws up to 73 miles per hour in outfield drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from a fairly even base with a mid-height hand set and toe-tap trigger. Incorporates minimal weight shift into contact with upward swing path and developing feel for the barrel. Middle-to-opposite field approach with best contact to the right side of the field. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional physical maturity.
